Re: is this true about aspartame

by John <jhy001@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Feb 10, 2008 at 04:28 PM

At a minimum, I know that I am allergic to aspartame.
Who knows if it would have killed me if I continued
to drink it. I had to stop.

I used to drink a lot of diet coke and started to
have very scary anxiety attacks. I thought I was
having or going to have a heart attack each time.
Doctor visits told me nothing was wrong with my heart.

Eventually I started Googling about aspartame on line
and decided to cut it out. The symptoms went away.
And if I have a 12 oz drink with aspartame, it is
likely I will have an attack, and if I have two
in a day, it is certain I'll have an attack. I have
to not get fast food diet drinks because they contain
aspartame.

I have switched only to splenda (sucralose) as a
substitute sweetener. Don't be put off by anyone
claiming it is bad. It's molecular conformation and
composition is almost that of sucrose (table sugar)
and tastes sweet but is not metabolized as sugar
in the body. I think it has three chlorine atoms
substitued for H or OH groups on sucrose. For those
that claim the chlorine makes it bad, remind them
that table salt, NaCl is made from two highly toxic
chemicals (sodium and chlorine) and seek opinions
from those who know what they are talking about.

Don't take my word for this if you don't want. Google
around and decide who is talking out of which end
of their body.

I've notified several drink makers that they should
ban aspartame. They simply write back that it hasn't
been determined to be harmful, yadda yadda. I write
back and tell them to put their money away for lawsuits
like the tobacco companies. And I've saved those email
exchanges in case there ever is litigation. I'll provide
them to the prosecution as prior "notification" for
whatever it would be worth.

My recommendation is to try splenda. Consensus of opinion
is that the body won't have any nasty reaction to it
or its metabolic breakdown products. And it tastes fine.
There is a diet coke with splenda sweetener, but it is
hard to find, and it may be taken off the market. They
should take off the aspartame sweetened stuff! It sure
limits what I can drink! As soon as I see aspartame,
it goes back on the shelf!
