After some great advice on this board I decided to fill the next round
of Chantix. It is time, in 1 week, to renew my Chantix prescrip for
another 2 months.
I call my Dr. and ask to schedule an appt. His receptionist tells me
he isn't practicing as a PCP (primary care phys.) anymore and i have
to find a new Dr....he is only focusing on Weight Loss and Immigration
physicals. Ok, fine, so I ask if he could just phone in the prescrip
to my pharmacy. She'll get back to me. 2 days later, no phone
call. I call her...she says, rather bluntly and unapologetically,
"you're just going to have to find another Dr. to write your
prescrip."
Well screw me gently....because i cannot find a Dr. with opening
within the next week. All the offices say "not until after labor day"
or "nothing the next 2 weeks.."...etc etc etc etc. I even tell them
"im quitting smoking, its fairly im****tant". One lady got really rude
and told me "well why dont u just have your Dr. refill it?!?" I hung
up.
Now im trying 1 Chantix a day to milk this starter pack for all its
worth. That will buy me 7 more days....if it works that way. The
medical community does NOT want me to quit. They want me to remain
chronically unhealthy. I know, i sound like a conspiracy theorist.
But come on, im quitting smoking and this is urgent and none of them
want to take me in??? I thought the medical community sup****ted
this?!?? If you're not rich or a big name person in this country u
can forget about health care!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So...tonight is my 2 week milestone. Im proud but this Chantix
situation is really stressing me out. Sounds like im addicted to
Chantix!!!
