No, not with a bird - Wot, in my condition? - but I did contact a
removal outfit and they are to move me back to my house on Tuesday a m.
And I got the housekeeper, whose name I keep getting wrong, it's Anne,
to be there that day to get a little groceries, and he place will
probably need a vacuuming at least.
I also located a guy who runs an agency that supplies home help,
housekeeping etc, well,I tried three of these agencies for a year on
moving into the house and the women they supplied were universally
awful; knowing I couldn't check their cleaning, they were skimping the
job. One put my duvet in the wa****ng machine! How stupid can you get.
It was ruined of course.
Another agency, Visiting Angels I think they were called, sent a woman
who did a reasonably good job but unknown to me she was quietly
removing everything she saw I didn't use often, a fan, other items, and
finally I spotted my household cash was around a hundred dollars short.
I know exactly how much cash I have at any one time.
So, next week I put the remaining cash in a metal locakable box and put
it in a drawer out of sight. But I forgot my wallet was in my inside
pocket of my jacket which was hanging up on a hall-stand. So after
she'd gone, I i discovered the wallet was in the wrong pocket, she'd
helped herself to anothe 80 dollars or so.
I phoned teh agency and the woman who runs it said she'd be round right
away but after three hours, no sign so I phones again, furious, and she
and another female came round and I explained the theft. She said they
would immediately refund the money, but after some weeks and some
increasingly irritable phone calls, no money. So I terminated them and
re****ted the theft to the police, and surprisingly the detective I spoke
to on the phone accepted my story although I admitted I had no
evidence. He did what he could, went to the Laura Judd woman's house,
but she just said no she hadn't taken anything. No way of getting a
search warrant in the cir***stances, then he interviewed the woman who
had come out to and promised to refund the cash, and he remarked he'd
"Had a hard job getting the truth out that woman"
I said Yeh she's a lying *****, which may have shocked him,
these detectives chaps lead sheltered lives and don't hear much bad
language, you know.
So, in view of this, I'm a bit wary of using this latest agency but
I'll give them a trial and see how it goes.
This ends today's re****t from the Hotel California.
