Hi AS3!
I imagine there's nobody here I know anymore but it seemed like I
spent a huge amount of time here starting a month or so after I quit
ten years ago. It was the only place I could find people who truly
understood what I was going through and I learned so much and little
by little it got easier and easier. Three and a half years later I
had a stroke at 55 which eliminated half my vision and dramatically
slowed my reading speed. I totally blame it on 37 years of smoking
but am very pleased it has not slowed me down that much. I have
adjusted to life as a non-driver and it's interesting to see others
struggle to make that adjustment now to riding the bus as the price of
gas keeps going up and up. People can make that adjustment too if
they have no other choice!
My advice from ten years out? Quit now and if you slip quit again!
Do it over and over until it works! It is so worth it and physically
I feel so much better now. Just make it as high a priority as you
need to and never give up quitting!
