Anyone here have any experience using HALF.COM to sell items?
I'm not an E-Bay user, and I've only ever bought stuff online from large,
well known companies and familiar merchants-- with the exception of a
couple
of out-of-print books-- so I don't know the ins-and-outs of this sort of
commerce.
I'm liquidating most of my sizeable library, except for some useful
reference works and a double handful of things I've loved and will save
and
re-read one day. A friend, upon learning of my decision, first urged me to
have a yard sale. I'm not a yard sale type person, though. Screw a bunch
of
sitting around while strangers poke at my stuff. I won't haggle with
people.
She then suggested I try selling things on HALF.COM. Apparently it's not
an
auction situation, like Ebay, so you don't have to hover all day long
hoping
to get something you want-- but I've never done it.
I have hundreds and hundreds of books that I just know I'll never read
again, and I need space for other things, in this dinky townhouse. In the
past we've simply hauled a year's worth of ac***ulated reading matter off
to
the local library or taken them down to the Salvation Army, along with
household items and old clothing. We always manage to recycle enough stuff
this way that we can actually get a tax credit for charitable donations. I
can't bear-- no matter what a piece of crap it may be-- to ever, ever,
ever
throw a book away. *SOMEONE* will read it and enjoy it...
So, I'm sure I have some stuff that's long out of print, and might be
attractive to someone. Tons of show biz, crime, cookbooks and biographies.
I'm considering listing most of the things that are in good shape, to see
if
I get any response.
Has anyone here done this? If so, was it worth your while? Any tips,
pointers, advice to share with a newbie?
