o-t: Sunday Boring Sunday ....

by sum1@[EMAIL PROTECTED] (Ian) Jun 15, 2008 at 12:47 PM

This hot sleepy Sunday is dragging a bit, so I'll talk to my keyboard to
pass the time.
Tonight it will be just three weeks since I collided with the kitchen
floor and got myself a painful hip and a bruised chest.
It's still painful to walk on but bearable. Another week or two might
see me right again.
However, just skimming through some of the messages in here, I see that
compared to some, I have little to grumble about.
Today one of the two maintenance guys here popped in to see if I needed
help with anything - he is one of the few here who do attempt to be
helpful. It was he who sorted out my computers and peripherals when I
moved in. He is willing to fix them when I move back to the house, and
I got his phone number. I'll be quite prepared to pay something for this
of course.
He's also promised to find a removal firm for me; I only have 15 days
left so I want to get things moving - ooops, a naughty little pun just
slipped in there....
I griped about the woman driver's odd attitude yesterday and he
intimated that she is "a little absentminded".
Pressed for more on this, he said she for example would take inmates
somewhere and then forget where she had taken them.
What kind of a madhouse is this, for Gawd's sake?
I told him about the food being lukewarm and not too great and groused
that for 2100 dollars a month I'd expect something better and he
said, astonished, that was more than he was paid each month. He then
revealed how much he earned in a month and I
was flabbergasted. I don't really understand how someone could live on
that kind of money. But I suppose, allowing for inflation, I was, way
back, though it wasn't easy.
He's from New York and tells me wages there are far higher than in
Texas. But I imagine the cost of living there is also higher.
Nothing much of interest to relate today, Sundays here are a bit of a
drag.
Tune in again tomorrow, when we may have something more substantial to
re****t,like an outbreak of Mol***** Fever among the inmates, a mad sniper
picking off those out in the garden for a smoke, or an invasion of
killer tortoises.
