I'm quite pleased with the continuing recovery in my hip area. Went out
into the corridor three times for a bit of a walk, then ventured into
the elevator and down to the ground floor to seek the mailbox. That part
of
the building is unfamiliar and I was unsure of the mailboxes location
but an old gent took me along to them and I found mine eventually. I'd
stuck a little self adhesive button on it to identify it. I then learned
that my conductor was also without sight, macular degeneration. He
seemed to be able to find his way about though. He then got a staff
member to take me over to the elevator and back to my door. I was
getting a little discomfort by then so was glad to get in and brew an
instant coffee.
I may consider trying to get to the dining room tomorrow for the evening
meal.
It's only about 16 days since I toppled over, so I'm not doing too
bad.
Yesterday I got someone to buy me a new duvet, or comforter as it's
called in the States, and so enjoyed a long deep sleep, not waking until
ten a m.
I've slept under a series of these since 1970, when my mother having
died, I was faced with the prospect of making the bed each day, and I
had not a clue how this was done. Yes, I'd been horribly spoiled!
Then these duvets, or Continental quilts, began to be advertized and I
though, Hey, this could be the answer!
They have - the quality ones anyway - have amazing insulation
properties. I've slept in rooms in England when the indoors
temperatures were well below freezing, and been warm as toast.

Ten weeks without a smoke.... I think I may have beaten it.
