All is well in my smobriety...but, I do have other unpleasant smoking
issues at the moment. I am buying some much envied furniture from my
friend. She bought it about 5 years ago...big poofy tan/cream
microsuede furniture. It is like heaven...sitting on a cloud. I have
adored this furniture for all these years and told her that if she
should ever sell it, to let me know. Well, the time has come. She
purchased new furniture and I am buying hers. (I couldn't be happier
to FINALLY get rid of my 15 year old tattered furniture!).
But...here is the problem...and it is a bigger problem than I
realized.
You see, my friend...is a heavy smoker. So is her husband. They
smoke in their home. Well...when I go to her home to look at the
furniture...I didn't notice how strongly it smelled, because, of
course, the whole house smells of smoke. Well...we brought the couch
home Thursday evening...and...uhm...well...my whole house smells of
STALE old cigarette smoke :( :( :( :( It also doesn't help that the
humidity is very, very high right now, adding to the odor issue. The
furniture looks lovely, was taken care of beautifully (except for the
smoke!), and the price was right. I can't afford new furniture right
now, and I am very happy with this set. BUT...what do I do???
Does anyone here have ANY idea HOW to remove the smoke smell??? It
took several months to get the smoke smell out of my Jeep. And...I
had the option of leaving windows down and letting it air out in the
sun day after day last summer and fall.
I don't want to just cover up the smell with perfumed sprays, if I can
avoid that. Shampooing *might* be an option, but, she said she just
DID that!!! So...I don't know what to do? Time? maybe just time???
My husband isn't real thrilled. He likes the furniture...but, being a
life-long non-smoker, he says the stench is absolutely disgusting.
And...I have to agree with him.
Help!!!
