Hi
Got some good news yesterday from my surgeon, have had an ileostomy for 8
years and cope with it pretty well but have never really accepted having a
pouch stuck to me 24/7.
However my surgeon suggested after giving me an examination that a Koch
pouch might be right for me, this way I would just have a valve sited were
the stoma was and evacuate it by inserting a small pipe into the valve .
This way I would have no pouch as the pouch would be fitted internally. I
keep myself in really good shape so I'm not scared about going in for an
op,
but I would like to hear from people who have had this procedure and their
experiences both good and bad and any problems they may have had. I can
have
the op if I want but it was suggested I give it some thought first.
Also if someone could point me in the direction of a good recourse for
information/diagrams pertaining to this I would be very grateful.
