Dagobert66,
I just read you question..I am 47 years old and have an illeostomy, It's
like a colostomy except my waste is liquid rather than solid like your
mothers. I am also a registered practical nurse as well. The list that
they have given your mother is most accurate.Coffee has caffiene in it so
it affects the way the bowel works. As far as red meat, that is because
red meat is harder to digest than chicken or turkey. I buy lots of chicken
and turkey, also ground chicken and turkey. I do have some beef and ****k,
but not alot. What exactly is on your mom's list? I know corn is a big
No-No, and coconut, sauerkraut and popcorn they all plug the bowel. I
would ask the Ostomy Nurses if your mom can have decafinated tea or
coffee. They may allow that. Also, Now that the summer is comming make
sure your mom is hydrated, it is real easy for people with Ostomies to
become dehydrated and with your mom having diabetes that would be
terrible. I have alot of trouble digesting so I would be happy to help
you. You can e-mail me at jrussell23@[EMAIL PROTECTED]
have lists of food that thicken, give diahrrea, foods not to eat, and
foods that are okay to eat. I could scan and send them to you if you
wish.
Take Care of Your Mom......
God Bless Her.....
