Waiting for 5 months to see a GI doctor is the norm here in Ottawa,
Canada. That is the problem with a universal health care here. Years
back, I saw another GI doctor, and he also asked me to wait 5 months
or longer for an appointment. From what I learned, these specialist's
earnings are capped per year by the govt, and they may work 10 days a
month seeing patients, and then refuse to see more patients because
they will not be paid by the govt. Therefore, they just see patients
2 or 3 days a week.
