Vince is right about B-12. ( injections and not oral ) and regular lab
work.
A good vitamin and mineral supplement might be good, plus a B-complex.
The thing that you remember about medications is ....no enteric coated
pills and no long acting or time release medications. You have to
constantly remind your doctor when he is writing you a prescription.
I break my pills in half to expose the center...and I crush my B/P meds.
Eat slow and chew your food well. I always encourage people, in the
beginning, when they are wearing see thru pouches, to look at their
output before emptying the pouch. You can see what you digest and what
you don't...and how well you are chewing your food. Sounds gross, but
it is im****tant to know that...everyone is different so you have to know
yourself. Chew Chew Chew!!!!
I am 78, have had an ileostomy for almost 54 years....it did not keep me
from doing anything I wanted to do and I am still going strong.
Incidently, my ileostomy is 34 inches back in the small intestine, which
means that I have no terminal ileum either.
You will do just fine.
