I've had an ileostomy since 1983, and the only things I avoid are
strawberry and poppy seeds respectively because they sometimes punch
holes in my appliance!

I have no idea what her doctor is up to. I'll agree with the crowd here
and guess that it's just a standard list that the doc hands out to try
and keep people healthier in a generic sense.
