A very old electrolyte replacement recipe is ..... and this is before
gatorade.
3/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
4 tbls. sugar ( could use splender)
1 cup orange juice
1 qt. of water
I know some who dilute pedialyte and also gatorade.
I have an ileostomy which is 35 inches back in the small intestine. I am
diabetic so don't drink gatorade or the above. I supplement vitamins
and minerals, B-complex, B-12 injections monthly, Amino Acids, Omega 3
Vitamin C...my doctor is aware that I take these, and my blood work is
always on the money.
One thing we all learned the hard way, that is to chew your food
well....chew, chew and chew some more, and to drink lots of fluids.
It has been a long time for me (53 yrs) but I can remember well, not
being able to feel like I had enough to eat....once I started with the
vitamins, I did not feel the need to eat all of the time. I think your
body craves what it needs and sometimes our food goes thru before we get
what we need from it.
Good luck!
