The im****tant thing to remember is that we have free will. This allows
us to make choices, and those choices have consequences. This is a
natural law - no matter how much the "legal" system attempt to remove
consequences as a natural result of choices and actions.
Keeping this in mind, you need to look at the outcomes / consequences
of choices of the actions you have taken in your life. I say "your"
life because that is the only thing over which you have control. You
simply cannot control others lives and actions. My ex thought she
could, and she was dead wrong. (I digress).
And while it sound very simple, it is! Simple to say, easy to
understand, but oh so hard to do! Examining your choices, and the
results of said choices will force a person to take a long hard look
at themselves. In the light of day, a persons imperfections and
shortfalls can look pretty scarey under such scrutiny.
The first thing to remember is not to be so hard on yourself. We are
ALL imperfect. The second thing is to BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF! It's
probably gonna hurt at first, but if you can admit your flaws honestly
to yourself, then this is the first step to taking control of your
life and making meaningful change.
I did not say it was going to be easy, but once done, you can put
yourself back on track.
And to that end... If you do not feel "free", "happy", and
"empowered", then it is time for just such an evaluation. These are
ALL attributes that YOU are responsible for in your life.
If you are not happy, then YOU need to change - as we all know that
you are responsible for your own happiness.
The question then becomes, what needs to change?
Your call.
