Hi
I don't see how there would be a difference between tablet form
of Ribavirin, (didn't know they came that way!) or capsule form
unless the capsules are a stronger dose than the tablets were?
I was on the generic Riba, 6 capsules a day (1200)... doc tried
upping my dose to 1400 but the extra 200 about knocked me on my
butt, suddenly I got so many sores in my mouth I couldn't eat, I
was itching like crazy, and seems to me my whole body was buzzing
and I had sleep issues, not to mention Riba Rage. So he let me
go back to 1200 :) I still had most of those issues, but not as
dramatically and I found ways to deal with them.
Can you call your doctor and ask these questions? Also let him
know what sides you are having, and maybe see about trying a
different anti depressant? The Celexa worked well for me, tho I
understand it didn't do anything for you -- but there are lots of
other meds to try out there. Plus, in my case, I found Xanax to
be a wonder drug -- maybe you can try some Xanax or Ativan to
help with some of the sides you are having.
And please don't be afraid to use medicine to help you through
this treatment period... you need to do whatever it takes to be
able to kill that dragon. Once the HepC is gone and you are done
with tx, you'll feel stronger and better and you'll deal with any
issues that rose from being on tx. (make sure you check that all
your meds are ok to take together -- I had to quit taking Ultram
while I was on the Celexa, which was a real PITA since I can't
take Ibuprofen or any of that class of pain meds, so was left
with plain Tylenol and that's it :) Interestingly enough, after
a while it worked and I didn't seem to need anything else.)
