Bactrim and Cirrhosis

by "Brian" <me@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jun 2, 2008 at 06:28 PM

I had open gallbladder removal and ended up with a foley catheter on May
16th. Today my Doc prescribed Bactrim DS twice a day x 10 days for a
possible prostate infection possible/urinary tract infection. My only
symptom has been a little trouble peeing. Preliminary UA is normal. From
what I have read it might not be such a good antibiotic choice for
someone
with cirrhosis. My doctor is well aware of my hcv and cirrhosis. I'm
wondering if I should take the Bactrim or call him tomorrow and ask for
something else? Opinions? On the up side, while I was open my surgeon did a

needle biopsy of my liver and found that the cirrhosis was not as bad as
the
Fibrosure blood test indicated.

Thanks,Brian
