I'm 32 years old, male, not overweight. I was diagnosed with
spontaneous GERD 8 years ago. I'm on aciphex 20mg daily. I have no
heartburn and I feel fine other than occasional bloating and
difficulty relieving gas (seems to get trapped).
I have had many barium x-rays and this year had a CAT scan of my
abdomen for something unrelated. Everything looks "clean" with the
barium x-rays and CAT scan.
Recently, I had to switch to a new GI doctor and he wants to do an
upper endoscopy.
If you've ever taken your car to a bad autoshop and got ripped off by
the mechanic who broke other things.. well, that's sort of what my
anxiety is based upon.
Given that I've had barium x-rays and a CAT scan, is an upper
endoscopy really needed?
Except for the trapped gas, I'd hate to get put on a bunch of new
drugs or undergo a surgery, or scared half to death, etc.
Thanks
