Hi All,
I've been on Nexium for 2 weeks (1 per day) and a week ago I also started
taking ranitidine (150 mg) twice per day. With this, I am getting some
relief, and no longer feel miserable. I seem to be slowly improving,
though
not in a straight line. I'm eating much better. I had lost 8 pounds but
have
gained almost half of it back. I still need to be careful about my eating
and I still get a fair amount of burping and reflux, and some feeling of
the
food / water just sitting in my stomach but it's better than before. I no
longer think about my condition all day long. I still fear a setback but
I'm
also able to look forward to even better days.
My doctor has sent an appeal to United Healthcare to try to get them to
cover Nexium for me. I also have appealed through my company health care
advocate. We'll see what happens with that. But even if I lose, I plan on
paying outright for Nexium, probably through a Canadian pharmacy, which is
not uncommon for Minnesotans to do. I should be able to get branded Nexium
for about half the US price that way. Still, it will be $80 per month
versus
$30 per month if UHC covers it.
Thanks for your sup****t and I'll keep you updated.
Bob P.
