Howard,
Do you think it is possible that the PPI's could be making me worse. I
doubt it and just believe they are no longer effective, since they worked
fine for the last 10 years except for 2004 when they stopped and I ended
up
with Prilosec for the last three years. Now nothing seems to help, but
they
may be helping 10 or 15 percent. When I went off therapy to take the
bravo
test (that could not be done after identifying duodenal ulcers during the
EGD), apparently it was the rebound acid that caused the duodenal ulcers
(plus all the other rebound effects since June, from switching PPI's and
taking H2 blockers - none of which helped).
My logic tells me that if it could be bile causing my problems, that the
PPI's would just exacerbate the problem, since the reduced acid would not
offset the bile as much. But none of this started until I tried stopping
the prilosec and then it wouldn't start up again, so I think it is still
due
to acid, and that it is caused by the pills not working. When I really
sting and burn up a storm, my saliva ph is always low (around 6.0).
Pete
