This is mainly for Howard, but others please feel free to comment.
Howard...I have recently re****ted my current dilemma in my update thread I
just posted, and noted that I am taking 40 mg nexium bidaily, sucralfate
four times a day, and reglan three times a day (all of which can or may
cause gas, and thus (IMO) possible back pain between the shoulder blades
and
in the frontal area of the chest also, but mostly in the back between the
shoulder blades in my case). I am talking about a muscle type pain, not
my
burning problems which you all know about. It is becoming quite
bothersome.
I did not have the muscle type back and chest pain before going on all the
meds 12 days ago after my EGD revealed duodenal ulcers and I could not
have
my bravo capsule placed, as I previously re****ted. I believe the nexium
is
the main culprit, since PPI's can cause muscle and joint pain, as well as
gas.
The back pain side effects are listed as less than 1 percent in the
package
insert side effects for nexium (along with the other hundred or so
conditions they list in order to cover their ass - which is quite silly).
Howard, can you tell me how many of your patients over the years (approx
percentage), that you have prescribed 40 mg of nexium bidaily (total of 80
mg per day), have complained about muscle type back pain between the
shoulder blades and even in the frontal areas of the chest. I believe it
could be gas related from all the damn meds I am taking, especially the
large dose of nexium. Although it could be related to the nexium
regardless
of gas. Sometimes if I can burp it may provide tem****ary relief but not
necessarily.
Also what percentage of the same patients have complained that the 80 mg
of
nexium per day seems to have caused persistent sore throat. I know
Christophe said it messed up his throat in three days. I have constant
burning all the time anyway as you all know, but I think the 80 mg nexium
is
just making my throat worse. I called the gastro last week about my
throat
and asked to drop to 40 mg, and all I got was stay on them from one of his
girls, and now I am afraid to call again about my back (I was going to
call
Monday but maybe I should just tough it out until I see him Friday - a
week
from now - but the back pain is getting worse).
Thanks...Pete
