I just read the tread on the pain involved with testing. But my
question involves the following:
When I was fitted a week or so ago with a Pho**** micropower, the
original setting selected by the computer was too loud. So loud that it
was painful. I took the aids back the next day and she reduced the
volume "she said significantly". But even now, the sound cracks when
certain levels of speech are articulated. (very harsh sounding)
I will have to go back Tuesday and have the volume turned down again
because these "state of the art" aids sound way TOO HARSH.
Now, my question is do you think she should be looking for other
adjustments to remedy this harsh sound other than just the volume and
the adjusting of the high and low frequencies?
She is young and although has knowledge, I'm not sure she has enough
experience to deal with my advanced hearing loss. My loss is such that
if you add too much volume (actually the volume that I need) I reach a
plateau where I hear very harsh tones to the point of being painful.
I don't know if other people have had this problem or not.
