I had my IUD removed a few days ago and will not be having another one
inserted. I mentioned to my gynecologist that I would like to go on
the Pill and that I suffer menstrual migraine once a month. He
immediately ruled out prescribing the Pill because of only two risk
factors being my age (42) and the fact that I get migraine, even if it
is once a month without aura. Apparently in 2004 they included
migraine as a major risk factor for stroke if you take the Pill. The
usual risk is 2 per 100,000. If you suffer migraine and have one of
risk factor it becomes 65 per 100,000. I have been told that no doctor
is going to prescribe the Pill under my cir***stances. I am a very
health conscious individual who is slim (131 pounds) and 5 feet 8
inches tall. I eat well and have low blood pressure.
What do others think? Has anyone on this NG been prescribed the Pill
and did their doctors tell them of this new directive which came into
force in 2004?

Linda
