You may have read the Associated Press article out of Hazleton,
Pa,, last week in which federal health officials confirmed the
existence of "cancer clusters" in the Greater Hazleton area.
<
The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry
revealed that its two-year study indicated 33 cases of
olycythemia vera, a rare bone marrow disease that results
in overproduction of red blood cells.
<
The agency indicated that it could not find the cause
but its members apparently haven't clicked on to

or they certainly would know the answer.
<
Toxic wastes and hazardous chemicals have been dumped
for decades in the Greater Hazleton area, especially in the
former McAdoo Associates dump site, a former anthracite
mine over 1.200 feet deep. .
<
The agency revealed that it confirmed 33 cases of
polycythemia vera in an area surrounding Ben Titus
Road in Ryan Town****p, between McAdoo and Tamaqua..
>
However, for the agency's information, an astounding
total of 131 cases have been do***ented between
Freeland and Tamaqua. YES, 131 CASES.
<
It should be noted that the U,S, national average for cases
of polycythemia tvera are ione in 100,000 and yet the entire
Greater Hazleton area has a population of about 200,000.
<
Can you believe that, while Greater Hazleton residents
are dying like flies, the city of Hazleton is ready to negotiate
the sale of land to a developer, Hazle Creek Properties,.that
already has been dumping hazardous materials in the area
and apparently wants to comstruct a housing development
and an amphiteathre on the former city landfill.
<
Residents of Southeastern Pennsylvania should be greatly
concerned because the hazardous waste and toxic chemicals
are moving underground in their direction. It has been re****ted
that they were discovered as far southeast as the Blue Mountain
more than a decade ago...
<
Danger areas include Allentown and the entire Lehigh Valley,
Reading, Philadelphia and all Southeastern counties,, along with
South Jersey and Delaware.
