Thank you all for your responses. It is unimaginable isn't it that
there are so many of us in such pain?
My daughters went to the Homecoming dance 4 days before my youngest
daughter was killed. The pictures of her in her first formal dress are
so very precious. I am so glad she got to experience the dance. Though
far from perfect she was beautiful, kind and loving. She loved young
children and would have grown up to be a great teacher, social worker,
or anything else. She would also have been a great mother. I have a
hard time thinking about all the wonderful experiences she will have
missed and the joy I would have had in sharing them with her. When we
had her memorial service the church was full of friends from school
and her youth group. It was also full of past teachers and many others
adults who had known her. We even had condolence cards from the
orthodontist.
Two years ago we would have been spending the evening getting ready
for her 16th birthday. She would have been so excited. Tomorrow her
older sister and I will spend the day together working on fini****ng
the scrapbooks that I have not been able to finish. It will certainly
be difficult and there will be many tears but that's OK. It will be
good to look at the photos and talk about her together. We will share
some birthday cake and make it through the day. Then we will get up on
Wednesday and begin again to determine what our 'new normal' is
without her.
I send my thoughts and prayers to all of you who are experiencing the
grief that draws us together on this list. One day at a time we will
make it through. Debbie
