Lots of questions-first finding the right glaucoma specialist

Hello everyone

Happy to find this group. I was diagnosed with glaucoma 2 years ago at
age 51 by my regular opthamologist. 6 months later I moved to
Raleigh,North Carolina and have been treated at the major university
medical center here and have had a variety of experiences. My first
glaucoma specialist, a fellow, lasted only about 9 months until he
left and he was very through. He thought I might not even have
glaucoma but after a battery of tests including an MRI, he concluded I
did. He put my on Travatan and Cosopt and told me how carefully I'd
have to be monitored as my vision in my right eye was deteriorating to
the point of almost affecting my central vision.
Then I got a new physician assigned to me and while this doctor is
very pleasant and caring, I do not feel listened to. I feel with this
doctor it might be a lack of clinical experience. She did SLT on my
right eye in November and I still don't really understand if it was
successful at all or not. I am still continuing with my regular 2
medication regime. I am only seen every 4 months.
So I guess my first question is: how do I go about getting a "re
evaluation" with a physician there that has more years of experience
with patients. I have researched their profiles on line and found
someone who looks good. I am getting worried more and more about my
vision. I am the family "breadwinner" and travel a lot by car for my
job. Already I avoid driving at night because my night vision is
horrible.I really don't want to lose any more vision than I already
have.
So first of all, how do I find a physician? and is it im****tant to
stick with my glaucoma specialty group now which is rated among the
top ten in the nation?
