I wonder if what I have is mastocytic enteritis.
Dr. Lewey writes about it at http://thefooddoc.blogspot.com.
It's a consequence of celiac disease, as well as other problems. You get
more mast cells - in your small intestine, large intestine, I don't
remember where. The extra mast cells are involved in food sensitivities,
which are non IgE immune reactions to food.
He writes about it in connection with chronic diarrhea, like IBS. Usually
my food reactions don't involve diarrhea, but I HAVE actually had mild
diarrhea a lot of the time since last winter.
So maybe, if you have extra mast cells in the small intestines, it doesn't
cause diarrhea so much, but rather the food reactions I have.
They're a very typical kind of food sensitivity for celiacs. I would post
things about my food reactions on a celiac mailing list and lots of people
would say that's exactly what it's like when they get glutened (or other
foods).
I emailed Dr. Lewey asking if my symptoms could be from mastocytic
enteritis, but I haven't heard back.
Jay, that's awful if you have all those symptoms you list!
