Could My Dream Become A Reality?

by "aimeeaddy@[EMAIL PROTECTED] " <aimeeaddy@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > May 4, 2007 at 04:51 PM

Hello my fellow endo sisters,

As i lay awake last night feeling the dreadful pains of this disease
an idea came to me...

I am writing to all of you to plant a seed and see what we can do
together to make something like this happen so we can as a unit change
our lives one step at a time.

Here is my idea....

I want to come up with a program that makes it possible for every
woman that needs to see an endometriosis specialist given the
oppertunity to do so. NO STRINGS attached! No insurance hassles, no
income barriers, no obstacles at all. Since i have joined this forum
i have read post after post of agony and stress related to this
disease. The main reasons why we cannot get help is primarily due to
economic reasons. If we were able to design a program that would
allow women to get to the specialists for their disease all this agony
could be avoided.

Currently, I am not a billionaire. ..so i could not fund a program
like
this. I need all of you to brainstorm and help finding the proper
resources to help countless women move on with their lives
and give them a gift that would expand into generations. Imagine how
many women could be helped and what it could do for their quality of
life? How many families could be mended due to the psychological
freedom of living pain free.

>From internet sup****t groups for endo I have learned that excision is
the closest thing we
have to a cure. If we could get a program funded so many women could
get the surgery they desperately need. Not only would the women get
help but other research groups could possibly benefit from it to and
maybe lead us
closer to a cure. Just think of all of us that go to our local gyn,
get a lap and nothing is done and we still suffer. If those women
that could not afford to go to a specialist, now could, the specialist
would know what to look for, what to biopsy, and understands the
disease. With the patients permission, this information could be
given to those that dedicate their lives to understanding endo and
maybe, just maybe the information could lead us down a road we may
have not gone down because jane doe was not seen by a
specialist.. .instead her endo lived in her body year after year
unstudied causing her tremendous pain because her local gyn could not
help her.

Many of us are at the mercy of our insurance companies... why not take
them out of the equation and give women the proper medical treatment
with out the hoops to jump through? It should be that simple, you are
ill, you need a specialist, you go to a specialist, you get treated.
simple, right? however, too many of us know this is not the case.

I just imagine women with endometriosis not having to take lupron,
bcp's, pain meds, otc meds, having hysterectomies because they are
desperate for pain relief, and all the other chemicals we have to put
into our bodies to get relief.

I honestly cannot say if excision is the path for all of us to go
down, but i really, truly feel it in my heart so strongly that if we
can get to a doctor that knows our disease, then we can be properly
directed down the correct path. If i had brain cancer i would not go
to a cardiologist.

So, that is just a part of my dream ladies. I want to think positively
and i want to envision this happening for all of us that so
desperately need to see a doctor that knows the most about our
disease. i can say from my experience, going to docs that cannot help
me inhibits my quality of life.

If you are interested in joining me in this mission feel free to email
me aimeeaddy@[EMAIL PROTECTED]
also, if you know of people that are
experienced in this type of work and could help guide us please pass
along my message...thank you

Please note: I do not have experience in any of this type of work. I
am a women that has been suffering for 12 years and it has got to
stop. I am tired of all of the suffering that women with endo are
going throught every hour and minute of each day of their life. I
simply have a dream and my suffering is my motivation.

With much love and hugs to all
Aimee
