Hi,
I was operated for endometriosis 8 years back but no there hasn't
been any relapse after that (that I know of).
For the 2-3 years, I have had to pee atleast twice or more
in the night but never worried about it, never ever mentioned it
to the doc - then it was discovered that I have a endocervical
polyp & a D & C was done to remove it. The gynaec said that
because I have had a lot of gynaec issues, I should go on continous
BCP - I have never been on even a regular pill before this except for
a few months a couple of times.
So since a year or so, I have been on Continous BCP with
a generic form of Alesse - Aviane. 2 months after I
started this, suddenly, I started peeing 6-7 times a night
& also more frequently in the day ending up with a sore
bladder. A lot of tests were done etc but nothing conclusive
was determined. Within a month, this tapered off to 3-5
times a night. After that for the last year, I get sudden
attacks - i.e. for a few weeks, I am peeing maybe twice a
night, then for 10 days, it increases to 5-6 times ending
up with a sore bladder, then for a few weeks, it's just once
in the night & again the pattern changes.
From the beginning, I was always taking the bcp at around
7 pm. Recently, I missed taking the bcp in the night & I ended
up taking it in the morning & I pee'ed more in the daytime
on that day. I then ****fted to taking the bcp to the mornings. Since
then, I haven't had too much peeing in the nighttime - just once or
twice. This may change again in a few weeks, but I was wondering
if there could be any connection at all between the BCP &
urination. Does estrogen or progestin cause bladder issues?
Also, occasionally I take Flavoxate 200mg (Urispas)
twice a night (once at 8:00 pm & another at 2:00 pm)
when I am doing some overnight travel & don't want
to pee. Is there any sideeffects or long term effects
of Flavoxate that I should be aware of?
