I don' t know if the mini pill (progesterone only) has the same risk
factors as the combination pills (it's been too long since I was on
them and as I have never smoked and was younger than my 30s, it wasn't
a factor for me). The mini pill was helpful.... However, if you are
going to have a hysterectomy, take the time to research and find a
REALLY good surgeon who is familiar with what endo looks likes in its
various forms and have them really clean you out at once to minimize
the liklihood of future problems, then from all I have heard, the best
suggestion would be to limit the use of HRT. A great surgeon can make
a world of difference -- my mom hasn't had endo related issues since
her hysterectomy back in '94 I think it was. Same surgeon did my
diagnostic lap and of course, endo removal, surgery in '97 and I've not
been back under the knife yet. I stopped the mini pills about 3 or 4
years ago I think and can control the pain usually with Anaprox DS.
As for not having one's own kid -- I'm wrestling with trying to make a
decision on those lines myself, realizing it may never happen for me.
Adoption and Foster Parenting may help with some of the need to be a
parent. As for the pain of it, I'm not really sure.....hopefully
otehrs will have sup****t to share on that.
Best Wishes,
Tricia
