I'm currently writing my Masters' dissertation on dyslexic pupils' use
of visual/spatial representation in Maths. Particularly the way
drawings, diagrams, visualisation, etc. can be used to help
understanding of number concepts and also problem-solving.
I have recently been observing KS3 pupils in lessons, and am now
starting some 1 to 1 work with a few case studies. I'm also
interviewing them about their experiences in Maths.
Anyway, I thought I'd post here in case anyone has any advice for me,
or would be willing to share their own experiences relating to my
subject. If so, please also feel free to email me directly.
I'm not dyslexic myself, but I've spent the last 7 years running the
Maths dept. in a specialist school for dyslexic/SpLD pupils, & working
on alternative teaching/learning strategies.
