Coworker forgot to pass on that the middle school was closed today. So
that was a bit anticlimactic. :)
On the up side, I got to meet with my new coworker, and it appears
that she will be excellent! She's worked with outdoor leader****p
experiences and can bring great physical activities that teach
cooperation and such. We both have volunteer coordination experience,
so we're being hired to work together each Friday to go out and
recruit new schools and recruit volunteers!
Boss says that within the next year, she'd like me in a position where
I'm training the volunteers and overseeing a few different school
programs - :)
So, yeah....My multiplicity has interfered with me having everything
together at work at times....And the boss was telling my new coworker
this story about me, the person she'd be working with. She told her
about the day that I missed a bus on the way to work, and then I
caught a cab that got lost trying to find the school, and then when I
finally did get to the school, I left my suitcase with all the craft
supplies in the back of the cab! Oh, and I wanted to call folks to
tell them I'd be late - but I'd forgotten my phone. It was a *bad*
day! *And* it was the day two different potential funding sources were
coming out to observe my program to see if they wanted to continue
funding, and my new boss (the current one) was observing me for the
first time. *Bad*
But here's how she told the story: Everything that could have gone
wrong for me that day did, but I walked into this class of kids and
these funders and I still ran the program - the kids had a great time
and both funding sources walked out wanting to give money to my
program!
So she was telling the coworker, "Yeah, she can be scattered, but
what's awesome is how great she is at going with the flow and
connecting with the kids. You'll love working with her."
Was a good day. :) :) :)
