Developmental disabilities questions

by "John the Baptist Jr." <johnw_94020@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jan 10, 2006 at 10:00 AM

I own a 1973 film called the Baby. The film deals a
developmental/psychological or fetish called Infantilism.

I believe that Infantilism can be developmental/psychological and a
fetish.

MEDICAL DICTIONARY OF PSYCHOLOGY

1)Abnormally slow development of mind and body 2) Childishness.
Regressive behavior of people who are no longer children, such as
demanding things, wanting attention, or throwing fits. 3) Being ***ually
attracted to or aroused by impersonating an infantant & being treated as
one; autonepiophilia

Is this correct?

Know since I have had some experience in the HomeCare industry, I can
know say that people like Baby in this film are not all that uncommon.
Once I forgot a lunch for a client I was working with and dropped it off
at his facility for Developmentally disabled people. As I was there a
young man in his twenties was crawling on the ground towards me, sucking
his thumb and hollering in baby talk at me. He was wearing pampers (as
he made very obvious to anyone that saw him) and he was being followed
around the center by his careprovider whom was a young gal in her
twenties. While I was there I took a tour of the facility and ran into
so many other clients just like the Baby in this movie. I even ran into
the changing room. It appears that there was such a need to take care
of clients in this way they had 2 of these. I only mention this because
I would feel uncomfortable, and was made uncomfortable taking care of
adults in this way. So 6 months was enough working with people of this
disability degree. I'd rather work more with mainstream learning
disabilities and people with mental illnesses.

I believe that itıs certainly im****tant to understand people in the real
world with these kinds of developmental disabilities like Baby in the
film. Sadly many people are offended with this film, as they are with
people with disabilities in general.

Can anyone tell me what causes such a developmental disability that I
experienced with the clients at the Developmental disability center and
some clients that I worked with? I mean my old client Glen could not do
anything but watch TV. He could not crawl, he could not feed himself,
and he acted very babyish. He had to have everything done for him. He
was not elderly neither.

Thanks,

John
