Mobile Robot for Disabled/Eldercare?

by "alta_56" <alta_56@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Nov 8, 2005 at 01:33 AM

I came across this mobile robot online and I think it could be exactly
what I'm looking for to help with my grandmother. It's called a
CareBot and it is designed to help people by following them around and
verbally reminding them about daily things like taking medicines or
upcoming appointments. It navigates by itself and automatically
follows a person. A caregiver or family member can program in the
reminders and even add jokes or quotes. It also has a webcam to allow
for remote visiting - you can check in on them from anywhere there is a
secure connection to the internet. The website is
http://www.geckosystems.com.
Does anyone else think this is a great
idea? Could this really be a solution for my family?
