As someone who is reading The Paleo Diet by Loren Cordain I think that one
reason paleo diets have not become more popular is the fact that they are
quite strict and restrictive. In principle following a diet we are
genetically accustomed makes much sense, but not many people are willing
to
change their dietary habits as much as is expected. For most people giving
up dairy, cereals, sugar and salt is way too much. In addition, there are
differing perceptions of what the paleolithic diets really looked like.
In my opinion a more moderate approach should be adopted. Paleolithic
diets
should rather be viewed as a source of inspiration, as pointers of what
kind
of food we should eat more. By adopting this kind of more relaxed attitude
the paleolithic diets could gain more popularity.
