Cites? High fat diets raise cholesterol, as does inactivity. It's not
animal foods per se, but fatty animals. Bacon. Fried sausages. Cheese.
Butter. If you had to walk five miles for every meal you ate, and the
available animal foods were tuna or venison, you wouldn't get heart
disease.

There's a big difference between a couch potato ordering a MacFat
Burger from the drive-thru window and an athlete and some friends
running down a wild horse over several hours, then stabbing it with
sharp sticks while it objected.

Some did, but we evolved on the savannah. Also, by the time our line
was homo erectus, we were long distance runners. Not just walkers, but
runners. I don't think we were running down field mice or wild
asparagus. We've also been using fire for a long time, so I can see
cooked veggies and meat as at least occasional ingredients in our diet.

Ergo, lots of exercise, lean meat, fresh fruits and veggies, some of
them cooked. No milk, few grains (picking grass seeds for food is a lot
of work!).

Maybe they're not *perfectly adapted. Or maybe they should exercise
more. Maybe their smoking or something else in their diet is causing
the damage.

Exercise is im****tant. A human who does not exercise is not medically
normal. Unfortunately, most folks don't seem to have a strong urge to
move vigorously. We didn't need it in the old days - move or starve,
move or get eaten. We had other motives for exercising then, and people
who have done it all their lives don't think about it much.
