Jan, when immigrants came over from europe and settled in the lower east
side of New York City, there were lots of pickle stores.  The owners of
these stores were Jewish.  Maybe there is a little provence to the word
kosher pickle.  We used to have an expression, a nickel a pickle.  I
dont remember paying a nickle a pickle for many many years

thanks for the info.  I didnt know that a kosher dill pickle was not
kosher  in the traditional way
