Some meds may reduce absorption of glucose

by guys@[EMAIL PROTECTED] Aug 25, 2008 at 12:56 PM

Several times I have had problem with hypos when
the oral glucose did not do the job.

Certain med's will interfere with absorption of
glucose in the small intestine.

This effect may improve blood sugars but may
make dealing with a hypo difficult.

One answer is an IV of dextrose.

The other is to know the pills you take
without the drug company hype.

At least one TV ad now has the required warnings
about it's relation to hypos.

Recently I picked up a prescription and found it was
one that the TV warnings saying is not for T1's. It
is still on the shelf.

The good info does exist if a person goes to the
trouble to find it. Without it a person may find
themselves up the proverbial creek without a paddle.
