There are some free news servers out there that work quite nicely - I 
used to use one when my laptop was working...I managed to kill it, and I 
can't recall what I was using.

But I found it by doing a simple Google search for "free news servers". 
  There are a number of sites that have lists of them and you can take 
your pick.
