Re: Oral drugs vs supositories for UC?

by Anon <anon@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jun 13, 2008 at 06:20 PM

Every time I post my personal opinion on the subject I get flamed. In
any event, keeping it brief....

Go to: http://www.savvypatients.com/ibd.htm
and read the Galland
articles on Leaky Gut. In fact read them all. If you are in the NYC
area, make an appointment with him - he was still practicing the last
time I looked.

I became convinced that intestinal flora (yeah bacteria) was the cause
of my problems when a course of Cipro gave me 100% relief.

I went 100% carb free. Mostly because of the 50 pounds of steroid
weight I gained. I took the herbal supplements mentioned in the article
for 6 weeks, two weeks before the end I began probiotics, several
different kinds, only bought refrigerated varieties.

I continue to take some probiotics on occasion, but they have gotten old
and are likely useless at this point.

Everyone complains of gas pains with probiotics - it is normal when you
are changing the mix of bacteria in the gut.

I must say that before doing this procedure, I resolved my GERD, after 6
years of Zantac and 3 years of Previcid. It has been written here
before that stomach acid is im****tant to kill off bacteria that doesn't
belong in the gut.
