Thanks Rufus.
I think my colitis is moderate. Every time I go in for a checkup, I
am in remission as it takes a while to wait for the procedure in the
hospital.
Activa really isn't a very healthy yogurt. It's marketed heavily
because of it's probiotic content but it's ingredients in general are
not the best: high fructose content (for me that's bad), carmine
(natural food coloring from red beetles), and modified cornstarch
(genetically altered corn). You may want to consider trying another
probiotic by itself from your health food store.
Wine in the past has been an issue but I thought I was doing
better....stupid me. A few beers every now and then usually is not an
issue if I have it with meals. Sugar/sweets, especially chocolates
cause me problems as do onions and tomatoes and nuts. Not sure about
bananas. It's hit and miss with them. Generic brand high fibre
cereals give me problems too, but All-Bran doesn't.
I reckon I have nobody else to blame but myself for not following my
dietary restrictions and this recent flare-up. I am still curious
though on Soy products, even organic soy milk and if gastrointestinal
discomfort causes or is associated with increased rectal bleeding.
Everyone has different tolerances and the fact that I have had this
inflammation on and off for the last 5 years is making me
concerned/worried about getting cancer since any chronic inflammation
typically and usually tends to develop into cancer.
