You are right that a cure can likely only be found once we know the
cause. However treating the symptoms of a disease such as IBD is all we
have right now.
You've also made it far too simplistic with no mention of genetics or
other such factors. I'll say it again, millions of people eat the same
diet, live in the same climate, and are exposed to the same
environmental agents and do not get IBD.
Athletes, obese and sedentary people, intelligent people, stupid people,
type a and b personalities, children, adults, seniors, and both genders,
can all develop inflammatory bowel disease. Hopefully you get the
point, you may want to find a pattern but one does not exist in this case.
