All about Kent

by "vanny" <vannyss2003@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Dec 6, 2003 at 11:02 AM

I am beginning to wonder why a healthy person is spending so much time in
this newsgroup. This is a patient forum or a forum for relatives of IBD
affected patients who seek advice or who re****t true and helpful stories
on
the basis of their indirect experience. Nobody tells others to stop taking
their medicines, but to always discuss everything with their doctors.

I am sincerely beginning to doubt that Kent has a wife with Crohn's
disease.
Of course, I could be wrong, but I would like to discuss this with Kent's
wife and hear from her that a low carbohydrate diet has cured her of
Crohn's. Has he made up this story to make himself im****tant at this
newsgroup? I have not heard of anyone else who has been 'cured' in this
fa****on and I would like to hear it from the horse's mouth as it were.
Naturally, I have heard about patients who have been helped by this diet,
but help is not cure.

So Kent, let us talk to your wife. Is she perhaps, taking all her tablets
behind your back? Is she hiding her bowel movements from you? Does she
exist?

Nobody should tell anybody else not to take their tablets. This is
ignorant
and very dangerous advice especially when directed at newly diagnosed
patients who do not have much information and who will find themselves in
a
particularly confused and vulnerable state. If there was a cure we IBDers
would not spend inordinate amounts of time with our computers and visiting
this newsgroup and the rest of the internet as part of our continuous
education. I, for one, do not think that IBDers are intellectually
subnormal
and make themselves ill. This insinuation is extremely insulting.

As someone with a 'pooh bag' and who tried every option open to me at the
time prior to having to have surgery, including the astronaut diet, I
object
to a non-IBDer telling me what I should have done in order to have
retained
my colon and part of my small intestine. I have been IBD-medicine free
(but
not Crohn's symptom free - abcesses, eye and gall bladder problems) for 11
years since having had my operation, but would have died without the
operation.

Above are just some of my thoughts on the matter, which is getting very
tedious. I have also kill-filled Kent. However, I am open to discussing
the
above with Kent's (virtual?) wife.
