Louisville, Kentucky (The Weekly Vice) -- Kathryn Bowen, a 40-year-old
Missouri woman has been arrested and charged with endangering the
welfare of a minor after a police officer watched as she poured wine
into a baby bottle and then allowed her 11-month-old daughter consume
it.
According to police, Bowen had been attending the Kentucky State Fair
on Monday when a Jefferson County Deputy and a corrections officer saw
Bowen pour a cup of wine she had purchased into a baby bottle.
"The deputy and the corrections officer observed her remove the bottle
from a bag, uncap the bottle, place the contents of the glass into the
bottle and then handed it to the baby who then proceeded to consume
it," said Chris Hancock of the Jefferson County Sheriffs Dept.
According to the arrest affidavit, Bowen admitted to authorities that
she fed alcohol to her baby, but said she did so to help her sleep.
Bowen was arrested and then booked into jail. She was released on her
own recognizance later the same day. She was scheduled to be arraigned
on Friday.
Authorities say the baby has been tem****arily placed in protective
custody.
