Cops: Mom let kids smoke dope, fire slingshots out of moving van

"A Daven****t, Iowa mother appeared in court Monday morning, accused of
letting juveniles smoke marijuana and shoot slingshots from a van she was
driving on Highway 61 in Scott County.
Carol Lynn Hatfield, 39, of 1131 Linwood Ave., Daven****t, has been charged
in Scott County District Court with one count of child endangerment and
two
counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
According to an affidavit filed in court by Daven****t police, Ms. Hatfield
was driving her 2005 Pontiac Montana minivan with four teenagers,
including
her daughter, at speeds of 55 to 65 mph. Ms. Hatfield let the teens smoke
marijuana in the vehicle, and let them open the van's sliding door as they
used slingshots to hurl objects at street signs and other targets, the
affidavit states.Police say her actions caused a substantial risk that one
of the teens could have been hurt.
An accounting of damages that may been caused was unavailable Monday.
The affidavit states Ms. Hatfield was arrested in the 600 block of Elsie
Avenue around 12:25 a.m. Monday. Information on whether the juveniles were
charged was unavailable because juvenile offenses are generally kept
private.
Following her first court appearance Monday morning, a judge set Ms.
Hatfield's bond at $2,000 cash only. She remained in the Scott County Jail
late Monday.
An attorney is scheduled to appear for her today..."
