Hi. My MIL was diagnosed with CD a few months ago which prompted me to
get my husband tested, since he had many of the same symptoms as my
MIL. He was indeed diagnosed with CD.
I have been online researching CD quite a bit and have found a lot of
valuable info. As far as recipes, though- it's very difficult to sort
thru them for reliable ones. Case in point- I found a recipe for
gluten free bread for a bread machine. I followed the directions, but
during the cooking cycle the dough ran over the top of the bowl and
caught my bread machine on fire.
I have also found that sites, some of which I subscribed to, which
boast "great gluten free recipes", send recipes that wouldn't contain
gluten, wheat, or ANY kind of grain in regular recipes. Of course
these recipes are indeed gluten free, but I could've saved myself a
buck and used my Joy of Cooking cookbook!!
So, my question is, since I am very new to cooking for a person with
CD, can anyone recommend some "proven" recipe sites or cookbooks that
I can find? I am particularly interested in a good white bread recipe
since my DH just can't seem to live w/out it and it is very expensive
in stores. Plus, I bought about $50 worth of gluten free bread
ingrediants aned would hate to waste them!! Thanks for your time.
