Several years ago, a set of CDs which contained several thousand
evidentiary (Discovery) do***ents and files, from breast implant
litigation, were opened, and shared via the internet, by what became
known as the Bustakeer Army. The "Army" was a group of 20+ women, who
were actually harmed by breast implants. Their tireless work of
opening these files, which needed to be OCR'd or converted to text for
easy internet dissemination, continues to provide a wealth of
information about what the manufacturers knew, and when they knew
it. . .

EFFECTS OF SILICONE OILS ON COCKROACHES
In the 1950's, Texaco and Shell did studies on various hydrocarbon
oils as insect attractants, using mineral oil as a control.
In 1968, it was found by Gorzinski that DC 360 fluid appeared to have
an insect attractant and insecticidal activity. If Petri dishes were
placed open on the floor, one containing mineral, oil and the other DC
360
fluid, cockroaches went into the silicone fluid only, and, after
coming out again, never got more than a few inches from the dish
before dying. It seems unlikely that this is due simply to blocking of
the respiratory
apparatus by the fluid, as 02, and CO2 solubilities in
polydimethylsiloxane are high enough to sup****t respiration.
Further work on insects with DC 200 fluid did not yield any useful
effects; however, the above results indicate that some type of
activity existed in the DC 360 fluid, and may be worth following up.
It is possible that some volatile minor component of the fluid is an
insect attractant, and this may not be present in all lots.
