Hi,
I went to the doctor today for a check up. The nurse took my blood
pressure
with an automatic digital monitor that had it's own wheels and stand. She
said my pressure was good (124/80 I'm a 44 y/o male). A few minutes later
the doctor came in and when she found out my parents had hypertension she
decided I must have it too. She took my blood pressure again with the
using
the old fa****oned wall mounted monitor that had a dial and a hand pump
bulb.
She got the results she wanted: 142/90. Then she called in the nurse to
take
my blood pressure again, and then she tried my other arm and I had my
blood
pressure taken four or five times. Now I have to come back for another
check
up and maybe start on blood pressure medicine. Wouldn't the digital
machine
be more reliable? It looked more expensive.
Do you think I should go back to that doctor? Is this a scam to rip off my
insurance provider?
Can anyone recommend an inexpensive home blood pressure monitor that is
also
reliable?
I had one of the automatic digital one's that wrap around the wrist. It
was
easy to use. Are those reliable? (I was able to excavate it from under the
detritus of the centuries that ac***ulated in my closet but the lcd
display
seems to have perished with the ravages of time. The machine knows my
blood
pressure but can't tell me which I prefer to the doctor who doesn't know
my
blood pressure but can.)
Thanks,
