Tapes?
Does anyone use tapes for anything other than backing up large disk
drives anymore? Even TV has gone digital..... partly because digital
media storage is easier to handle, partly because it is FAR less
volatile and partly because it costs far less per item to produce in
quantity. Consider these two scenarios: one kid playing with a magnet
across your tape case - result: it winds up costing you thousands of
dollars to replace the damaged or destroyed recordings. But if the
same things happens to a batch of recorded CD's the net result is the
kid goes on playing and the recordings are unhurt.
Welcome to the 21st century, where we're really doing a lot of "that
crazy Buck Rogers stuff" (referencing the original comic strips, not
the TV series with Gil Gerard and Erin Grey).
