When serving by mail, there is no "process server." That's why signature
mail is required, as that is the third-party confirmation that normally
comes witha process server.
I did the same thing in a case here three years ago and it held up just
fine. Fortunately, I have more than enough time to refile in the event
that
any of the far-out legal theories about my service turn out to be correct.
